1st International Interdisciplinary Conference "Economy, Society and Climate Change - The Impact of mega trends in the Built Environment, Construction Industry and Real Estate"

7 - 10 November 2018, Athens, Greece

The Technical Chamber of Greece in cooperation with the International Organizations FIG – International Federation of Surveyors, UNECE WPLA - United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Working Party on Land Administration, UIA – International Union of Architects and ECCE – European Council of Civil Engineers co-organized the 1st International Interdisciplinary Conference "Economy, Society and Climate Change – Τhe impact of mega trends in the Built Environment, Construction Industry and Real Estate". The Conference was held 7-10 November 2018 at the Eugenides Foundation, 387 Syggrou Av., Athens, Greece (www.tufe2018.com).


In this Conference architects, civil engineers, surveyors, representatives from International Bodies and Organizations, governmental scientific advisors, policy makers, senior experts, CEOs' and academia brought together professional experiences and scientific knowledge in the fields of economy, society and climate change, in the scope of protecting the environment and the humanity and to facilitate the digital transition in construction industry. Trends in the management of land and real estate, heritage preservation, property valuation and taxation, sustainable and renewable energy sources, standardization of BIM (Building Information Modeling), environmental friendly and disaster management tools, funding issues, as well as educational and professional aspects were presented.


For the first time, the Technical Chamber of Greece co-organized a Conference with the collaboration of 4 International Entities, while Presidents from the International Organizations FIEC- European Construction Industry Federation, EFCA – European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations, EAMC - Engineering Association of Mediterranean Countries, ACE – Architects' Council of Europe και CLGE – Council of European Geodetic Surveyors participated and addressed speeches. The aim of the conference was to mark the beginning of a long-term cooperation between European and International professional and scientific bodies of Engineers, to enhance dialogue, to exchange ideas in line with modern trends in the construction industry, real estate and digital technologies and to present the status of Building Information Modeling on European countries.

60 International speakers and participants from all over the world attended the Conference.

Parallel to the Conference, the UIA Presidents' Meetings of REGION I and II, an ECCE seminar on "Disruptions' analysis - Safety works propping systems -Consolidation techniques with steel for elevated masonry structures and masonry foundations" and the celebration of FIG 140 Anniversary and the handover ceremony to the next FIG President took place.
