The Institute of German Engineers e.V. - ZDI

The Institute of German Engineers (ZDI) is a professional organization and is an Associate Member of the European Council of Civil Engineers since October 2011.

It was established in January 1969. The ZDI President is Mr. Hermann Sturm and its representative to ECCE is Prof. Carsten Ahrens.
 
As an association for innovative, economical and dependable engineers, ZDI makes intensive efforts to represent the interests of each individual within the profession on both national and international basis. Its proclaimed goal is to organize all engineers into a stronger community on a voluntary basis in order to optimize their competitiveness.

The ZDI objectives are:

  • greater independence for self-employed engineers in Europe
  • increased employment of the engineers in all areas
  • public service to achieve a better understanding of the population for the work of engineers for the benefit of everyone
  • advising and influencing politicians and important organizations
  • exchange of ideas on issues of general interest
